Biography

Shirin Mostaghim Jones is a natural connector and community builder who creates change through how she shows up—both personally and professionally. She believes deeply in the power of reflection, and human connection across lines of difference (and similarities!), as a catalyst for unity and change. And that starting this work at home and at school is vital for the greater good.

She brings over a decade of experience in both the for-profit and non-profit space, managing digital advertising, marketing, outreach, and communications. A natural operator, she excels at overseeing logistics and ensuring systems and details are in place to get things done effectively.

Shirin finds deep purpose in using her professional skills in service of work that nurtures more just, belonging-centered, and human-centered learning communities. Her career began at Google during the early days of online advertising development and has since led strategic campaigns, targeted advertising, and integrated communications efforts that align values with impact. Her work centers on connection and purpose.

Her journey into education-focused nonprofit work began personally after researching schools for her children and feeling disheartened by the inequity and segregation, and professionally at Roots ConnectED’s where she was drawn to the organization’s Anti-Bias Framework for transforming schools as one solution to her dismay over schools and society. At Roots ConnectED, Shirin elevated the organization’s outward-facing communications, expanded its digital presence, and strengthened partnerships to amplify the organization’s thought leadership and programming.

Now serving as the Operations & Communications Manager at the Center for Reaching and Teaching the Whole Child (CRTWC) , she brings together foresight, strategy & systems, and human connection to support organizational effectiveness and mission alignment. In this role, she supports both the operational backbone and the communications that help CRTWC advance whole-child education and educator wellbeing.

Outside of work you’ll find Shirin raising two elementary-aged social butterflies who seem to connect with just about anyone (!), going on Awe Walks in San Francisco, bedazzling, and building community through her neighborhood, schools, and faith.
