Dr. Rebecca Baelen Named 2023-2025 CASEL Weissberg Scholar

2024-25 CASEL Scholars

Our new Director of Research and Development, Dr. Rebecca Baelen, was named as one of the six new CASEL Weissber Scholars. Dr. Baelen will be part of the 2023-2025 cohort of scholars – the second cohort of the program. The CASEL Weissberg Scholars Program was designed to honor Dr. Roger P. Weissberg and his efforts as a collaborator, mentor, and founding thought leader in the field of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).

“The CASEL Weissberg Scholars program is focused on inspiring the next generation of scholars and educators who embody Dr. Roger Weissberg’s commitment to advancing evidence-based research, collaboration, practice, and policy to support the positive development of children, families, and communities,” said Kimberly Schonert-Reichl, Ph.D. (Chair, CASEL Weissberg Scholars Program). “This new cohort represents an outstanding group of early career scholars who will help lead the way to new innovations and discoveries in SEL research, practice, and policy.”

Participation in the two-year CASEL Weissberg Scholars program enables scholars to gain valuable exposure to the SEL field and allows them to interact with thought leaders in SEL research, practice, and policy. They will receive educational and professional development, as well as join a collaborative community of early career scholars who are eager to make a difference. Scholars will be provided mentorship from senior scholars in the field of SEL and receive guidance and support in their pursuit of educational and professional goals to innovate and advance SEL.

Rebecca is honored to be part of this second cohort and hopes to bring insights and learnings from this cohort to the work she is doing at CRTWC.
